Davy's eczema

Okay, for those that don't know about Davy's eczema, here is a short history.

Since Davy was born, he has had abnormally dry skin and a sensitive stomach. I have had to be careful with what soap I used on him, and what I ate since I am nursing him. He had bad cradle cap that lasted for several months, and constantly had skin peeling off of his ears.

At Thanksgiving him and I both came down with colds and went home sick. After his cough started to clear up, he looked like he had a drool rash on his chin and cheeks. Soon however this had spread to his ears, the back of his head, his hands, his toes, behind his knees and his diaper area. With some intensive lotion treatment and me staying away from dairy it got better.

Then it got worse again. We began doing allergy testing through our acupressurist friend. He tested allergic to dairy, beef, soy, peanuts, and some sensitive to other nuts. Okay, so I elliminated those things from my diet. Though not completely. Do you know that soy is in almost everything!!! it is so frustrating.

It has now improved quite a bit. We have stopped using prescription medication, as it did nothing but irritate and thin his skin. We have used cortisone sparingly, and I stopped using the expensive lotion because it was made of almond oil and had a fragrance in it. I have bought petroleum, dye, and fragrance free laundry detergent for all of his clothes and diapers and they also have to be double rinsed. He is currently only nursing, no solid food at all. He is not interested at all.

If you are looking at the pictures and wondering, "this is better?" it is. His face is now red and raw, but that is new skin that is just sensitive. A couple of weeks ago his face was one large scab that looked like he had been burned. His legs are also improving. His arms and shoulders have not progressed as much, and that is because of the laundry detergent episode we had last week where I bought him new clothes and foolishly let him wear them before I washed them.

Sometimes I am so frustrated with what else to do. I feel like I try so hard, and it does so little good. Please pray for us. Pray that we have wisdom to know what to do for our sweet, patient little boy. Pray that he heals quickly and he outgrows his allergies. We appreciate you guys and your concern.

Thanks.
