Davy's first birthday party

Davy had a great first birthday party. We invited some friends over and grilled lots of meat. We also had corn on the cob, fresh cut up veggies, grapes, chips and drinks. We made hamburgers and if you wanted something else, you could bring your own meat. So several people brought steak, pork steak and chicken. Everything was yummy.

Davy got a rubber ducky and cup holder from Sarah in a very cool box. He got an inflatable and walled trampoline filled with plastic balls from Amber and Donald. I bought him 3 new outfits and a pair of pajamas for a total of $.07 ( I had store credit!).

The cake was awesome. Amber and I spent a lot of time on Saturday baking the several dozen chocolate wafer cookies for the cake. Then we layered them with cool whip and set the cake in the fridge to meld together and let the cookies soften. It was very cute, and everyone said how delicious it was. We will definitely make it again, after we figure out how to make the cookies faster!

Davy had a glorious time playing with, smushing and destroying his little cake! The pictures are so priceless. Donald also videotaped the destruction, which was very kind of him. We will enjoy that so much!

The kids stayed up very late last night, past nine o'clock, and are a little tired and cranky today. I thought they might sleep in this morning, but that was cut short when City Utilities came to haul off the brush pile they made in our backyard on Friday.

We had no power for the majority of Friday afternoon and night. The problem ended up being in our backyard, and it affected almost our whole subdivision. They cut down a good section of one of our trees to look up at the power pole. Then they called in the cherry-picker truck, but couldn't fit it into our yard, they went through our neighbors instead, taking out their fence. This was late at night, by the way. We got power back on by 11 p.m. on Friday night. They left the brush pile, seeing that it was late at night. They were here bright and early this morning though, running their chipping machine in the front yard! After that noise, there was no more sleeping in our house! That's okay, that means better naps and bedtimes today anyways. We had a great party with wonderful friends and feel so blessed.
